For
most businesses, loading docks are considered behind-the-scenes settings for a
plethora of essential operations. Still, they hold a fair share of accidents
and hazards. According to a recent study, 25% of industrial accidents occur at
loading docks with more than 600 near-misses. The study further revealed that
most of those loading dock accidents were a result of improper loading
dock storage of equipment and bars. Without a proper storage system,
equipment and bars poses a number of threats to workers and may even lead to
fatal consequences.
The
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) stress the importance of
incorporating proper loading dock storage. Facilities that do not comply with
OSHA’s loading dock safety guidelines are penalized under the act. This is why
experts recommend every business owner to use an effective solution to ensure
that their loading dock storage needs are met along with improving the
security.
